COLON HYDROTHERAPY
COLON HYDROTHERAPY
Also referred to as a colonic, colon cleanse or colonic irrigation.
A colonic treatment lasts 45-55 minutes and is performed by a trained therapist who stays with you throughout the treatment making sure you understand what is happening so that you feel safe and secure. During that time water is introduced and released from the colon during several fill and empty cycles, flushing out the waste. Many clients find the procedure relaxing and quite comfortable; afterwards they report feeling lighter and more energized.

The Procedure
The Procedure
In a safe and confidential environment, the therapist will spend a few minutes asking you some questions about your health and digestion. Then you will change into disposable shorts provided by the clinic. You will lie on the massage table while the therapist gently assists you to insert a small disposable speculum into your anus, which connects to the colon hydrotherapy unit. The therapist then controls the unit to allow water to flow gently in and out of your colon, softening and loosening impacted material and helping to expel stagnant matter, toxins and parasites found within the large intestine.

The client’s dignity is always maintained throughout the session. Nearing the end of the treatment the therapist will introduce an electrolyte and chlorophyll solution, via the implant tank to replenish minerals that may have been flushed out with the debris. This also helps create an environment where good bacteria can grow and flourish.
End of Treatment
End of Treatment
After the treatment you will be offered a tea or an electrolyte drink to help replenish minerals. Many clients report feeling lighter, thinner and more energetic with a general sense of wellbeing.

Therapeutic Add-Ons to your standard Colonic.
Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants that is highly beneficial to the human body. It supports beneficial bacteria in the colon, binds to toxins and alkalizes the intestinal environment.
Electrolytes
Electrolytes
Electrolytes are minerals dissolved in solution, which create an electrical charge that is required for critical body functions. They enable your body to hydrate, maintain the acid/base balance and they regulate cardiac, muscle and nerve function as well. There is no life without electrolytes!
Coffee Enema
Coffee Enema
When coffee is introduced into the rectum, some of it is absorbed by the hemorrhoidal blood vessels, which connect to the portal vein that delivers it directly to the liver. The caffeine stimulates the liver to dump out bile containing fat-soluble toxins into the intestines, where it gets rinsed out during the colonic. The palmitic acid in the coffee stimulates the production of glutathione-s-transferase, the liver's master antioxidant. Therefore coffee enemas are one of the most direct ways to assist in detoxification of the liver.

The Merck Manual advocated coffee enemas in all editions from 1898 through 1977, and many nursing texts routinely recommended coffee enemas. Dr. Max Gerson famously introduced them into cancer therapy in the 1930s because they enhance liver function and in turn, eliminate toxic residues from environmental, chemotherapeutic, and other sources. Cancer patients often have a very large tumor burden, and as the body repairs and rebuilds and tumors break down, enormous amounts of toxic debris can be produced, most of which must be processed in the liver. Coffee enemas seem to enhance this processing of toxic metabolic waste.
Probiotic Implant
Probiotic Implant
Re- colonize your microbiome (gut flora) with a Probiotic Implant. Colonic implants differ from normal probiotics, in that instead of being taken by mouth and having to survive stomach acid, the implanted probiotic is delivered directly into the colon which is the final destination. The implant is a specially designed combination of healthy and beneficial intestinal bacteria. We use 450 Billion VSL#3 Probiotic Retained Enema to re-inoculate the beneficial gut flora that can help improve your digestion, boost your immune function, manufacture vitamins and help heal your gut lining to protect it from invading pathogenic bacteria.

There are 'good' and 'bad' types of gut bacteria. Exposure to antibiotics, pesticides and herbicides such as glyphosate, chemotherapy, oral birth control or eating a diet low in fibre, high in sugar, processed food and animal products can lead to a dominance of the 'bad' types of gut bacteria. Imbalance of population in favour of the undesirable type leads to a condition known as dysbiosis. Dysbiosis can contribute to conditions such as poor digestion and absorption, constipation, putrid flatulence, and weakening of the lining of the digestive tract, which over time may deteriorate into more serious conditions such as leaky gut, irritable bowel and inflammatory bowel diseases such as colitis and Crohn's.
Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
The colon - what is that again?
The colon - what is that again?
The colon, or the large intestine, is the end portion of the human digestive tract (food carrying passageway extending from the mouth to the anus). The colon is approximately 5 feet long and 2 inches in diameter. Its major functions are to eliminate waste and conserve water. Also, there are bacteria living in the colon which synthesize valuable nutrients such as vitamins “K” and portions of the “B” complex.
What is the purpose of having Colon Hydrotherapy?
What is the purpose of having Colon Hydrotherapy?
Waste material, especially that which has remained in the colon for some time (i.e. impacted feces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucous, parasites, worms etc.) pose several problems. First, this material is quite toxic (poisonous). These poisons can re-enter and circulate in the blood stream making us feel ill, tired or weak. Second, impacted materials impair the colon’s ability to assimilate minerals and bacteria-produced vitamins. And finally, a build-up of material on the colon wall can inhibit muscular action causing sluggish bowel movements, constipation and the result of these disorders.
How many sessions will I need?
How many sessions will I need?
It is important to be aware of your objective when working with a colon therapist. For example, if your objective is to quickly recover from the flu, or lower a fever, or eliminate a lower backache, very possibly one or two colonics may be all that is needed. However, perhaps your objective is to overcome a life-long habit of constipation, to learn to create multiple daily bowel movements and to achieve vital optimum health. To do this may require, in addition to possible dietary, exercise and attitudinal changes, regular colonic treatments for some time. How many depends on the condition of your body and how well it responds to treatment. Having colonics regularly for a while, such as daily, weekly or multiple times a week, is what is referred to as a “series”. Many colon therapists believe that to obtain results of lasting benefit, a series of colonics must be undertaken. Again, this can only be properly considered once and objective has been identified.
How long does a treatment take?
How long does a treatment take?
Actual treatment time is about 45 minutes, but you should plan a total session visit of one hour in duration. If this is your first session plan to stay for 1hr and 15min to 1.5 hrs so we have time to discuss your objective, go over medical history and answer any questions you may have.
What can I expect afterwards?
What can I expect afterwards?
Most likely, you will feel great. You probably will feel lighter and enjoy a greater sense of well being. Someone getting their first colonic usually remarks that it was one of the most wonderful experiences of their life. Any activity you would ordinarily do, such as work or exercise, is fine to do afterwards. For some, the colonic may trigger several subsequent bowel movements for the next few hours, but there won’t be any uncontrollable urgency or discomfort. It’s also possible you may feel light-headed or chilled for a few minutes following a colonic.
How can I tell if I have toxic material in my colon?
How can I tell if I have toxic material in my colon?
This condition is prevalent in all civilized societies, particularly in North America. Common signs include headaches, backaches, constipation, fatigue, bad breath, body odour, irritability, confusion, skin blemishes, abdominal gas, bloating, diarrhea, sciatic pain and so forth. As you can see, intestinal toxicity is part and parcel of many peoples’ everyday experience. Colon hydrotherapy effectively eliminates large quantities of toxic waste, taking pressure off the rest of the body organs.
Can I eat normally after my colonic?
Can I eat normally after my colonic?
Your therapist may make some dietary suggestions based on your response to your colonic. After your treatment, it is best to avoid roughage for the rest of the day as this may cause gas cramps. Focus on slightly steamed vegetables, some lean protein (white meat, not red) and if you like something raw - vegetable juice made from carrot, celery and greens is usually also well tolerated. The next day you can resume a normal diet.
Are colonics habit forming?
Are colonics habit forming?
The colonic is a tool intended to be used to create a clean and healthy colon. A colon therapist who is dedicated to your health will encourage you to set a goal of having a well functioning colon. Our fulfillment comes from assisting you in healing your colon, not making it dependent upon colonics. Actually, one of its better features is that a colonic can be used to tone the colon muscles so that the colon does not perform so sluggishly. Many people have sluggish colons. It may take days for bowel movements to return after a good colonic. This is when people think they are becoming “dependent” on colonics. One good colonic is worth 20 to 30 regular bowel movements, so it may take some time for fecal matter to build up in the colon once again if one has a sluggish colon. If bowel movement do not return for a few days after one colonic, it is an indication that extensive colon work is needed to remove built up debris.
Is this a safe procedure?
Is this a safe procedure?
Being an essentially natural process, there is virtually no danger with a colonic. Skilled therapists will exercise extra care with an elderly person who is severely constipated. Also, colonics are never performed on pregnant women, a person with currently active ulcerative colitis, or following recent surgery. Our intent is to provide a safe and healthy service so that you do not have to worry. Disposable tubing and speculums are used for each treatment. Clean linen and shorts are used for each colonic as well. Purified water free of chlorine and sediment is mandatory. Chlorine destroys good bacteria in the colon

Cleanses the colon: toxic material is broken down so it can no longer harm your body or inhibit assimilation and elimination. Even debris built up over a long period is gently, but surely removed in the process of a series of colonics. Once impacted material is removed, your colon can begin again to cooperate as it was meant to. In this very real sense, a colonic is a rejuvenation treatment.
Exercises the colon muscles: the build up of toxic debris weakens the colon and impairs its functioning. The gentle filling and emptying of the colon improves peristaltic (muscular contraction) activity by which the colon naturally moves material.

Reshapes the colon: when problem conditions exist in the colon, they tend to alter its shape, which in turn causes more problems. The gentle actions of the water, coupled with the massage techniques of the colon therapist, helps to eliminate bulging pockets of water and narrowed, spastic constrictions finally enabling the colon to resume its natural state.
Stimulates reflex points: every system and organ of the body is connected to the colon by reflex points. A colonic stimulates these points, thereby affecting the corresponding body parts in a beneficial way (similar in reflexology).
Okay, it sounds like a colonic may be good for me, but will it be painful?
Okay, it sounds like a colonic may be good for me, but will it be painful?
It rarely is. Usually, painful experiences are the result of resistance and tension. A professional colon therapist is skilled at putting you at ease and minimizing discomfort. Most people actually enjoy the colonic and are especially pleased with the unaccustomed sensation of feeling lighter, clean and clear afterward. Sometimes during a colonic, the colon muscles will contract suddenly expelling considerable amounts of liquid waste into the rectum. This may feel like cramping or gas, and may create a feeling of urgency to empty the rectum. Such episodes, if they occur, are brief and easily tolerated.
Is it embarrassing to get a colonic?
Is it embarrassing to get a colonic?
No. You will fully maintain your personal dignity. You will be in a private room with only your therapist, who fully appreciates the sensitivity of the colonic procedure and will help you feel at ease. Your emotions will be acknowledged and honored. After the gentle insertion of a small tube in to the rectum, you are completely covered. Rubber tubing carries clean water in and waste out in a passive gravity system. The mess and odour sometimes present during an enema simply does not exist with a colonic.
Will one colonic completely empty the colon?
Will one colonic completely empty the colon?
Almost never. First of all, many of us have considerable amounts of impacted feces (hardened, rubbery like matter) in our colons. Substantial work must be done to remove it. Second, there is a subtle learning process involved in receiving colonics. As you become more aware of what is going on in your abdomen, and as your body learns to allow the cleansing experiences, you are better able to enter into that process and therefore more material is able to be released. One colonic will remove some of the stagnant waste in the colon. The second and subsequent colonics will remove more. How many you wish to have will depend upon your personal objectives.
What about the friendly bacteria in the intestines, are they flushed out?
What about the friendly bacteria in the intestines, are they flushed out?
First of all, friendly bacteria love a clean environment. Even though some are flushed out with the treatment they multiply quickly when they have space to do so. Most colons are filled with morbid matter of different kinds that crowd out the friendly bacteria in the colon to start with. The best win/win situation you get, when you supplement probiotics after a colonic treatment, when there is room for them to multiply!
Do I lose any electrolytes during a treatment?
Do I lose any electrolytes during a treatment?
Together with the old debris that is flushed out of the colon during a colonic, some electrolytes will follow suit. They can be easily replaced with an electrolyte rich drink after the treatment.
Will a colonic clear up my skin?
Will a colonic clear up my skin?
Your skin actually “breathes” and is an important organ of elimination of waste material. Sometimes if the colon, liver or kidneys are functioning poorly, the skin will be required to make up the difference. Surface eruptions on the skin of various sorts may occur due to toxins being released. Cleansing and healing the colon diminishes the burden placed upon the skin as well as on the other organs of elimination; the lungs, liver and kidneys. As elimination is accomplished through its proper channels, the skin will very often clear up.
Should I have a colonic as part of a fasting or cleansing program?
Should I have a colonic as part of a fasting or cleansing program?
Whenever you do anything that increases the rate at which toxins are released into the bloodstream, it is essential that you eliminate whatever you can through the colon. If you don’t, you may unnecessarily experience increased discomforts of toxemia (poisonous toxins in the bloodstream). Instead of being expelled from your body, toxins may merely recirculate and settle elsewhere in organs, muscles or tissues. Whether you use colonics or some other elimination aid, you must do something daily. A knowledgeable colon therapist can be of great assistance during any cleansing program. You may find it beneficial to schedule a colonic at the beginning of your fast and ask the therapist to comment upon your plan.
Will colon hydrotherapy help me lose weight?
Will colon hydrotherapy help me lose weight?
Colon cleansing has the potential to aid weight loss and kick start your metabolism. As the colon is cleansed, it pushes undigested waste through your system, clearing the way for good nutrient absorption. A series of colonics can result is significant weight loss and increased energy, as well as refocusing your attention on better food choices and whole body wellness. (Some people have lost 10 to 20 pounds over the course of a month.)
